An Underhung Crane belongs to a type of overhead crane with end trucks that ride on the bottom flange of the runway beams instead of on top. Sometimes these overhead cranes are called "under-running" instead of underhung. It has a similar structure with a top-running overhead crane.
The underhung bridge crane has a lifting capacity of from 1 ton to 10 tons, a span of 3-15m, and a travel speed of 20m/min and 30m/min. The underhung overhead crane is commonly found in fabrication shops, assembly lines, maintenance shops, manufacturing facilities, and so on for light-duty material handling service. It is a good choice for facilities where the building height is inadequate to support a top-running overhead crane system. The crane provides less hook height and lifting height than the top running crane since the bridge beam and hoist hang underneath the runway beams.
